چکیده

The purpose of this comprehensive review was to evaluate and identify the performance of composite/ceramic onlays versus crowns. The strength of the evidence is based on published trials, systematic reviews and observational studies. Methods: The dental literature was reviewed for controlled clinical studies and retrospective cross-sectional studies from 1966 to 2013. Longevity of onlay or crown is dependent upon many different factors, including material, patient-and dentist-related. Principal reasons for failure were secondary caries fractures, marginal deficiencies, wear and postoperative sensitivity. Minimally invasive dentistry, in cases in which it is appropriate, is a concept that preserves dentition, supports structures and involves low cost therapy.

The in-vitro clinical failure of all-ceramic crowns and the connector area of fixed partial dentures: the influence of interfacial surface roughness.

OBJECTIVES To assess the effect of interfacial surface roughness on the flexure strength and fracture mode and origin utilizing an in-vitro assessment of the clinical failure conditions expected for all-ceramic crowns and the connector area of fixed partial dentures (FPDs) using bilayered ceramic specimens tested in bi-axial flexure. METHODS Sets of 20 bilayered composite discs, with core:den...

An Evaluation of Two Modern All-Ceramic Crowns and their comparison with Metal Ceramic Crowns in terms of the Translucency and Fracture Strength

Background: Metal ceramic restorations are highly popular and are used for most of the crown and bridge restorations made today. Aims: To evaluate the translucency and fracture strength of two all-ceramic and traditional metal ceramic crowns. Materials and Methods: Thirty crowns of similar size and shape were constructed to fit a standard brass die. Ten crowns were manufactured from each of the...

Effects of coronal substrates and water storage on the microhardness of a resin cement used for luting ceramic crowns

UNLABELLED Composite resin and metallic posts are the materials most employed for reconstruction of teeth presenting partial or total destruction of crowns. Resin-based cements have been widely used for cementation of ceramic crowns. The success of cementation depends on the achievement of adequate cement curing. OBJECTIVES To evaluate the microhardness of Variolink® II (Ivoclar Vivadent, Sch...
